I'm purchasing a JD 4200, hydro, 4WD. I also want to get a 5' - 6' finish mower (3pt), and a rear blade with the tractor. One JD dealer sells Land Pride brand mowers and blades. The other sells Befco mowers and Atlas blades. I'm not too concerned about the blade because they're relatively inexpensive. The mower, however, is not. Does anyone have an opinion on Befco vs. Land Pride? The Befco is slightly more expensive but seems to be better made. For instance, the Land Pride blade had spots of rust on it already while it was still in the shipping crate. The Befco looked like it has just come off of the assembly line. Rust aside, is one better than the other? Are parts more readily available for the Land Pride? Here's the pricing I've received so far:Befco 5' finish mower - $1,600Atlas 6' rear blade - $ 329Land Pride 5' mower - $1,445Land Pride 6' blade - $ 325Thanks for any feedback-

I think that you can get a better deal than that . I bought a Woods Rd 8400 finishing mower for $1500 and it's 7FT wide and is rear discharge ..i have looked at the landpride and it looks like it is built as well and any i have looked at . Have a landpride landscaping rake and it could be built better but i looked at there finishing mowers after i bought mine and would have bought one if i had not got a Woods ..Pete ....

Going thru the same issue with the mower! I got a 5' Land pride blade for $300or so. I have been punishing it without any damage yet!Just as a question, why are you getting a 4200 if you are going to be mowing? The 4100 is a good tractor(I have one), but if you want to go up a class considera 4300. For the same weight and a little more $$ you get more Horsepower. If you are considering a 4100 let me know and I can answer questions! ....
